The future of Reading

With the number of readers going down day by day, a lot fear the question of whether reading books may be doomed in the near future?

Whether books now will only hold a place at the libraries or would they make it to our shelves/coffee tables?

Although once upon a time, books were the highlight of time. Among the source of getting to know, how and what, the past generations had gone through. People were passionate about reading. And not just reading a book or two, but dozens or even hundreds. They’d remain lost in reading their favourite books for days, even for weeks at times.

Whereas today, that’s simply not the case. With the world having gone advanced with technologies, and search engines bringing all the info you need, right at your doorstep, in the push of a button, the need to go to the library, is just not felt as necessary anymore, which also signals the end of the real, true reading.

Although once upon a time, books were the highlight of time. Among the source of getting to know, how and what, the past generations had gone through. People were passionate about reading. Though Cicero said, “A house without a book, is like a body without a soul”, But it seems as though more people are interested in getting eBooks than printed ones; And as if the public libraries are becoming home to more dust on books than souls. It’s hard to say whether books stand a chance in the near future or if they’ll be taken over by the new era of eBooks? Though reading has managed to survive centuries by centuries, but even forever does not last..
